Fight the enemy empire, climb the ranks, save ████ and ███ (redacted for their privacy tbh).\n- [**死棋 (Dice Chess)**](https:\u002F\u002Ffashao-meng.itch.io\u002Fdice-chess): filed under \"tool,\" not \"game,\" because of course it is. Chess, but dice. No generative AI was used (they want you to know).\n\n## What's the Event?\n\nThe pitch: make your own short, scrappy, lovingly cursed game in the Fashao Meng tradition. Think one-button arcade absurdity, a mystery wrapped in a CD-ROM, a deeply researched history lesson nobody asked for, and a title that's secretly a pun.\n\nThe Fashao Meng house style, as far as anyone can tell:\n\n1. **Small and finishable** - HTML5 \u002F browser-friendly, a few MB, made in a jam-sized window.\n2. **A bit, committed to** - lean into one weird idea and never break character.\n3. **Lore optional but mandatory** - pad it out with a random Wikipedia article if the spirit moves you.\n4. **Pun-titled** - bilingual bonus if you can swing it (死棋, anyone?).\n\n### Stylistic Rules\n\nWhile you can make your game however you want, we do want to enforce the following mantras when it comes to *style*:\n\n- **Cropped images from the internet as aesthetics:** Google something. Crop it. Use it. Did that new sonion GIF spark joy? Why not crop one frame of it, combine it with the two wolves meme and add some text. Surely that'll be good content.\n- **Bizarre VFX\u002FSFX:** If you can combine, bit-crush and compress the entire audio of all 12 season of Big Bang Theory just to make a win sound effect; you're on the right track.\n- **Currency\u002FScore:** YEN (¥), it's important to be non-historically accurate.\n- **Inspired by \"Chinese\" history:** It's important to be historically accurate.\n\n## Why Now?\n\nMost of the Fashao Meng canon was forged in **GameMaker**, so it's only right we follow tradition. And the timing's perfect: GameMaker is mid-overhaul right now. **GMRT (the new GameMaker Runtime)** is leaving beta across platforms this year, with source-available access on desktop, mobile, and web. There's also **new languages incoming**. Before the year is out, GMRT opens GameMaker up beyond GML to **JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#**. So if GML scares you, there's a path in.\n\nRunning this around **September** means you can grab the latest GameMaker, poke at the new runtime and languages, and ship a tiny blessed\u002Fcursed gem while the tooling is still warm out the oven.\n\n## How to Take Part\n\nCloser to the event we'll open up a **forum topic** where you can post your submissions and chat about everyone's entries.
